Getting
Started
We are a non-profit organization, founded to serve primarily the GLBT
(gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) community, but anyone is welcome
as long as they feel comfortable in that setting.
We have four counseling
programs: LIFE, HIV/AIDS, Chemical Dependency Treatment and Anti-Violence.
The LIFE (Living Insightfully For Empowerment) counseling program deals with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationships, coming out, stress or personal growth.
The HIV/AIDS counseling program offers group and individual therapy for people living with HIV disease and the significant people in their life.
The Chemical Dependency Treatment program offers an eight-week Intensive program, transitional groups and individual counseling. In our chemical dependency groups, we get into very personal issues about relationships and experiences that affect substance use. This makes it most important that the group members be very comfortable discussing gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender issues.
The Anti-Violence program concentrates on issues of trauma from being a survivor of a sexual assault, a hate crime or domestic violence.
Intake and Fees
Fees
& Grants: We charge $25.00 for the intake unless it's covered by a grant or insurance.
Our top fee for individual therapy is $100.00 per session, however with proof
of your income, you may qualify for a sliding scale fee reduction based on
that income. You will need to bring proof of your income and your insurance
card to the intake.
Grant funds may be avaliable and will be discussed in detail during the intake
and finalized before the first session. If you think you qualify for a grant,
bring your ID, proof of your income that is current within the last 2 months,
and proof of residency which can be a utility bill, lease or something similar
with your name and address on it.
Additionally, if you think you qualify for an HIV grant, you should also bring
proof of your HIV status to the intake. If you are already registered in the
CPCDMS, you will not need your proof of residence or income.
