Life Program Goups

Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Breast Cancer Support Group

When: Wednedays 9:30 - 11:00 am
Where: Room 236
Dates: Beginning February 6
Duration: Ongoing

Additional Info: This CONFIDENTIAL and AFFIRMING support group is open to lesbians, bisexual women, and Transgender persons who are dealing with the consequences of breast cancer. An intake is required to join the program if you're not already a client at MCC. Please call 713.529.0037 to schedule an intake.

Fees: Some grant funding available. Eligibility to be determined at intake. Sliding scale based on income. Most insurance accepted, including Medicare. This group is not Medicaid eligible at this time.

Coming Out Support Group

When: Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Where: Room 254
Dates: Beginning Friday October 12
Duration: Every Friday for at least 8 consecutive weeks
Fees: No charge, donations accepted

Long-Term Survivors Group for HIV+ Gay Men

When: Thursdays 1:30 - 3:00 pm

Additional Info: Therapeutic support group. Intake is required. Grant funding is available.

HIV+ Support Group

When: Thursdays 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Where: Room 253
Dates: Ongoing, open group

Additional Info: Whether you're newly diagnosed, a long-time survivor, or somewhere in between, this CONFIDENTIAL and AFFIRMING support group is available for those who would like to find support in a group environment. This support group is open to anyone who is HIV positive.

An intake is required to join the program if you're not already a client at MCC. Please call 713.529.0037 to schedule an intake.

Anti-Violence Program Groups

Men's Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse

Additional Info: An open-ended interpersonal group.
This group is for adult gay men who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Participants must meet with program facilitator prior to joining group and must already have or be in the process of dealing with the past in therapy.

A Monday evening commitment is necessary for this group.

Women's Sexual Assault Survivors Support Group
Day: Tuesday
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Where: Room

Additional Info: This CONFIDENTIAL supportive therapy group is for women who have experienced sexual assault either as children or as adults. The direction of discussion will be determined by the group members each week, and they will have the opportunity to share and participate at the level at which they feel comfortable. The group's purpose is to provide validation and encouragement.

Participants may join at any time • Intake required for entry into group if not a current MCC client • A brief assesment by facilitator required prior to attending group • Must be at least 18 years old to participate • Fees to be determined according to clients' circumstances; sliding fee scale, insurance if applicable, some participants may be eligible for grant funding.

SPRY Program Peer Support Groups

SPRY Women's Peer Support Group
Day: Monday
Time: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Where: 2nd Floor - Room 247

Additional Info: A smaller, more focused group and the participants will have to have met at least once with a Peer Counselor for screening. The time for this group was coordinated so the participants could leave the meeting and get together for a bite to eat, if they choose.
